The Centre for Investigation Research and Learning is currently seeking a chief education officer to join our executive team as a board member, in the challenging and competitive non-profit industry based in the greater Brisbane area.

Who are we:

The Centre for Investigation Research and Learning is a non-profit which aims to improve quality of life and safety across communities by promoting education alongside increased scientific literacy and critical thinking skills. With a focus on evidence based reasoning, the Centre seeks to contribute to, strengthen and influence political policy objectives across all levels of government with particular regard to education, consumer protections and the STEM fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Attending monthly board meetings
  • Advising the board and other stakeholders on educational matters
  • Develop educational programs including assessment criteria for external clients
  • Develop internal training programs including assessment criteria
  • Develop internal policies, procedures and frameworks alongside the board
  • Assume end of line responsibility for education units
  • Identify gaps, weaknesses and/or potential improvements in government education policy
  • Write submissions to government and participating in lobbying activities
As a board member, you will possess strong leadership and team building abilities while focusing on community outcomes.

Educational requirements:

  • Experience as an education professional with relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Specialisation in a STEM field is highly desirable

Desired Skills:

  • A demonstrable knowledge of logic, critical thinking skills and the ability to transfer into an educational scenario
  • Experience as a deputy, principal, dean, chancellor or other similar role is advantageous
  • Exposure and/or experience developing educational programs is essential
  • A professional communication style, combined with excellent written skills
  • Excellent professional networking skills
  • A proactive approach and demonstrable problem solving ability
  • Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and prioritise tasks while delivering on organisation level objectives, leveraging technological assets to achieve goals across the virtualized office environment.
